In verschiedenen Freiland- und kontrollierten Laborexperimenten werden Grundlagen der Demographie und Populationsbiologie höherer Pflanzen untersucht. Neben dem Erlernen neuer Methoden der Populationsanalyse stehen vor allem Fragen zur Dynamik von Pflanzenpopulationen, zur Konkurrenz von Pflanzenarten, zum Einfluss von Störungen und zur Nährstoffdynamik im Vordergrund. Außerdem wird eine Einführung in die Vegetationsaufnahme nach Braun-Blanquet vorgestellt und eingeübt.
