Bei Wikipedia heißt es: "Paul Erdös (1913-1996) war einer der bedeutendsten Mathematiker des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er galt unter Mathematikern schon zu Lebzeiten als Legende. Paul Erdös arbeitete mit Hunderten von Kollegen auf den Gebieten Kombinatorik, Graphentheorie und Zahlentheorie zusammen. Erdös vagabundierte von einer wissenschaftlichen Tagung oder einem Kollegen zum anderen, irdische Güter bedeuteten ihm nicht viel und am liebsten sprach er von "Dem BUCH", in dem Gott die perfekten Beweise für mathematische Sätze aufbewahrt." Erdös hat auch gesagt, dass man nicht an Gott glauben braucht, aber das ein Mathematiker an das Buch glauben sollte. Gemeinsam mit Erdös haben die Mathematiker Martin Aigner und Günter M. Ziegler eine erste Annäherung an das BUCH erarbeitet, deren Veröffentlichung 1998 Erdös leider nicht mehr erlebte. In diesem "Buch der Beweise" von Aigner und Ziegler werden einige "schöne" Beweise aus verschiedenen Bereichen der Mathematik vorgestellt. Einige davon sollen in diesem Seminar besprochen werden. Im Anschluss an das Seminar soll zu den einzelnen Themen eine Bachelorarbeit geschrieben werden.

Die Kandidatinnen und Kandidaten sollten Interesse an Beweisen mathematischer Sätze haben und über Kenntnisse aus der Zahlentheorie, der diskreten Mathematik oder der Stochastik verfügen.
