230610 Creative Writing (S) (SoSe 2008)

IMPORTANT! Please note!
This course was intended to have a limit of 25 people. Due to an oversight on my part, this limit did not appear on the ekvv. At this point (3rd March 2008) I can only REQUEST any further potential participants NOT to register for the course. I cannot, of course, forbid you to do so. Obviously though a large creative writing seminar will have to be run on a project-orientated basis in which the teacher acts as consultant and there is a heavy reliance on group-work, peer critique and correction and autonomous activities.

Course description:
In this broad introduction to creative writing, students will experiment with various sorts of prose fiction and creative non-fiction, as well as - time permitting - exploring some subgenres of poetry and drama. In addition to providing a forum for committed and hard-working participants to work intensively at their own writing skills, the seminar should interest future teachers alert to the rich potential of creative writing in teaching language and literature.

As a rule, those students planning to do their Praxisstudien in this seminar will be expected to develop projects which focus on creative writing as a discipline rather than on their own creative writing.
