This course will focus on the different domains that learning and teaching a foreign language involve. We will first concentrate on current research results in applied linguistics concerning the learning of vocabulary and grammar and then consider how this information helps us to develop a principled teaching practice when it comes to teaching the language system.
In the following, we will concentrate on how the skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) can be developed in the foreign language classroom. Special emphasis will be placed on the design of successful tasks and activities and the evaluation of current coursebook and additional material.
Participants are expected to develop activities for the different domains and put them to the test with the seminar group.
