Obwohl neue Medien und die Internetkommunikation eine immer wichtigere Rolle in der modernen Gesellschaft und in der sozialwissenschaftlichen Medienforschung spielen, finden sich noch kaum explizit darauf ausgerichtete qualitative Methoden der empirischen Untersuchung von Internetkommunikation. Dies zeigen auch neue Darstellungen qualitativer Methoden der Medienforschung. Aus diesem Grunde wird diese Veranstaltung als Forschungsseminar durchgeführt. Es geht darum, bewährte qualitative, rekonstruktiv verfahrende Methoden der Medienforschung (u.a. objektive Hermeneutik und Konversationsanalyse) auf neue Formen der Internetkommunikation anzuwenden. Unabdingbare Voraussetzung für die Teilnahme sind Kenntnisse qualitativer Methoden der Medienforschung, die vertieft und auf neue Formen der Medienkommunikation angewendet werden. Neben der Erarbeitung von Texten und speziellen Problemen gibt das Seminar Gelegenheit für die Durchführung eigener kleiner Projekte in verschiedenen Bereichen der Internetkommunikation.
