300057 Private Authorities (S) (SoSe 2008)

Contents, comment

The seminar's ambition is to present, discuss and reflect upon problems of building order in global contexts of decision making through substituting public authority with private authority. This aspect is part of the more encompassing problem of global governance, which in itself is part of the more encompassing problem of the formation of a world society. The seminar will proceed in three steps:

  • International regimes as processes of generating global order.
  • New balances of state authority and private authority.
  • Processes and architectures of private authority and hybrid (public-private) decision making.
