Gegenstand dieses Seminars sind Ansätze zur Beschreibung und Analyse von Texten. Nach vier einander ergänzenden Betrachtungsweisen kann „Text“ erstens als eine sprachliche Äußerungseinheit begriffen werden, die man in ihren formalen Strukturen beschreiben kann. Zweitens ist jeder Text als Element eines kom-munikativen Geschehens zu verstehen, innerhalb dessen er bestimmte kommunikativ-funktionale Eigenschaften besitzt. In einer kognitiven Perspektive sind drittens die mentalen Prozesse zu betrachten, die bei der Produktion, Verarbeitung und Speicherung von Texten wirksam werden. Aus einer vierten – soziokulturellen - Perspektive erscheinen Texte schließlich als Realisierungen von mehr oder weniger formalisierten Traditionen des Schreibens/Sprechens, welche in den verschiedenen Sprachgemeinschaften kollektiv ausgehandelt und weitergegeben werden.
All diese Betrachtungsweisen des Phänomens Text werden im Seminar vorgestellt und anhand zahlreicher Beispiele diskutiert.
