How are word meanings stored in the brain and how are they retrieved when we understand or produce language? An introduction to selected research methods of Neurolinguistics will be provided first. Afterwards, we will read and discuss current studies on embodiment and language (also known as embodied cognition), discussing data from both neurotypical speakers (without language impairment) and from individuals with acquired language disorders (including Parkinson's disease, aphasia, semantic dementia). The implications for speech and language therapy and foreign language teaching will be discussed.
