Für die Lektüre von mittelalterlicher Literatur ist eine gute Kenntnis des Mittelhochdeutschen unabdingbar. In diesem Kurs werden wir deshalb die grundlegenden Eigenschaften der mittelhochdeutschen Sprachstufe erarbeiten. In diesem Zuge werden wir uns auch damit beschäftigen, warum die deutsche Sprache heute so ist, wie sie ist. Warum ist das Präteritum von denken nicht denkte? Warum ist Schnecke im Mittelhochdeutschen ein Maskulinum, aber heute ein Femininum? Warum funktioniert Negation heute anders als vor 800 Jahren? Diesen und weiteren Fragen werden wir uns im Seminar widmen und das erworbene Wissen anhand von Übersetzungsaufgaben zu den Mären des Strickers anwenden.
