230104 Communicative Competence in children and adults with pragmatic language impairment or CCD (S) (SoSe 2026)

Contents, comment

The course presents different neurological disorders and the consequences on language and communication. Persons suffering from Aphasia have difficulties in communicative contexts, but they often "communicate betterthan they speak" (Audry Holland, 1976). Other neurological diseases, including Dementia, Traumatic Brain Injury or Psychiatric Disorders, have no primary impact on language and speech, but on pragmatic and communicative competences.
We will discuss studies on symptoms, strategies and possible diagnostic and therapeutic methods to handle CCD (cognitive communication disorders) and other pragmatic problems in different patient groups.
