This study group aims to bring together doctoral researchers engaged in qualitative research who are currently in the phase of data analysis. The primary goal is to create a supportive and open environment where we can collaboratively reflect on our materials, share challenges, and refine our analytical processes.
As doctoral researchers, we often work in isolation, and when we do collaborate, it is usually to present polished parts of our work, typically theoretical chapters or finalised analyses. However, the actual process of analysing qualitative data is rarely shared or collectively practised, even though many of us are navigating varied struggles and challenges. This study group is founded on the idea that while analysing data is mostly an individual task, it does not have to be a lonely one.
Then, the aim of this group is;
•Primarily, to create a space where we can bring together our raw or in-progress qualitative material and practice of analysing.
•Sharing the methods, tools, and strategies we use to analyse our data will help us expand our methodological repertoire beyond our individual approaches and incorporate new techniques that could enrich our own research.
•To discuss and practise “reflexivity” by creating a safe space to critically reflect and articulate our own positionalities and relationships to our research material.
•To discuss the challenges we face in the analysis process, as well as broader issues related to data collection, fieldwork, anonymisation, and research ethics.
•To exchange experiences, tips, and relevant methodology-focused readings to enrich our approaches.
Group meetings will be organised according to participants’ needs, and the schedule will be finalised based on that. By doing so, it is aimed to create a fruitful and safe environment where we can think through our material collectively and learn from each other’s processes.
