260026 Science, Technology, and Society [*H*] (S) (WiSe 2025/2026)

This course examines the dynamic relationships between science, technology, and society from philosophical and policy perspectives. Topics include the distinction between basic and applied science, the interplay between scientific research and technological innovation, and the role of science and technology in development. Students also explore issues of ethics, responsibility, and governance, analyzing how scientists engage with policy, industry, and the public. Through readings, discussions, and presentations, participants develop critical tools to evaluate the social and moral dimensions of scientific and technological practice. The course instruction, readings, and assessment are in English.

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen, notwendige Vorkenntnisse

Abschluss des ersten Studienjahres (beide Grundkurse, Philosophischer Einstieg und Philosophisches Schreiben), sofern Sie den Kurs nicht als Handwerksseminar besuchen.
