In dieser Veranstaltung werden aus einer transnationalen Perspektive heraus Migrationsprozesse bei ethnischen und anderen Minderheiten betrachtet. Dazu werden zunächst kurz theoretische Ansätze zu Transnationalisierung und Migration, sowie solche die sich mit Identität und Ethnizität befassen erarbeitet, um eine Grundlage für die weitere Diskussion zu schaffen. In einem zweiten Schritt wird es dann direkt um die wissenschaftliche Beschäftigung mit der Verbindung dieser Bereiche gehen, so dass insbesondere Studien diskutiert werden, die sich mit den möglichen Besonderheiten von Minderheiten in Transnationalisierungsprozessen befassen. Dazu werden u.a. empirische Beispiele herangezogen, vorwiegend aus Lateinamerika, die zum einen die soziale Positionierung solcher Gruppen sowohl in den Ankunfts- als auch den Herkunftsländern verdeutlichen und sich zum anderen mit dem möglichen Wandel dieser Position durch Transnationalisierungsprozesse befassen.
