Das Seminar widmet sich einem der wichtigsten deutschsprachigen Romane der Nachkriegszeit! Uwe Johnsons 'Jahrestage' erzählen deutsch-deutsche Geschichte vom Kaiserreich bis in die späten 1960er Jahre, erzählt Faschismus, Sozialismus und Kapitalismus und lässt uns wissen, wie es sich als alleinerziehende, berufstätige Frau oder als 10 Jährige im New York der späten 1960er-Jahre lebt. Jahrestag ist das Zentrum des Erzählkosmos von Uwe Johnson, ein Kalendarium deutscher Geschichte, eine Gesellschaftsroman der seinen Leser:innen einen panoramatischen Überblick bietet.
Im Seminar lesen und diskutieren wir Johnson Roman und beschäftigen uns mit verschiedenen medialen Adaptionen (Spielfilm, Hörbuch, Lesung). In exemplarischer Perspektive kann das Seminar auch genutzt werden, um sich in das Lesen umfangreicher, narrativ und inhaltlich komplexer Texte einzuüben und die narratologichen Kompetenzen auszubauen.Alle Teilnehmer:innen sind aufgefordert vor Semesterbeginn die ersten ca. 150 Seiten von 'Jahrestage' (Tageseinträge bis zum 12. Oktober 1967) zu lesen.
