Diese Pflichtvorlesung führt in die Alte Geschichte ein. In ihrer ersten Hälfte, die mit einer Klausur abschließt, werden die Epochen der Alten Geschichte im Überblick vorgestellt (archaisches Griechenland, Griechenland in klassischer Zeit, Hellenismus, römische Republik, römische Kaiserzeit und Spätantike). Die zweite Hälfte der Vorlesung führt in die Grundlagen der Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte der genannten Epochen ein. Sie bereitet auf die Hausarbeit, eine Quelleninterpretation, vor. Ich empfehle allen Teilnehmern, eine der unten genannten Einführungen in die Alte Geschichte (begleitend) zu lesen.
