In diesem Projektmodul soll der sichere Umgang mit potentiell humanpathogenen Corynebakterien erlernt werden. Thematisch steht dabei die Genomsequenzierung von medizinisch relevanten Krankenhausisolaten und die anschließende bioinformatische und mikrobiologische Analyse von Gen-Funktionsbeziehungen im Vordergrund. Alle Experimente werden von einem zugeordneten Betreuer überwacht. Ziel ist es, aus selbstständig erzeugten Genomdaten die Lebensweise der humanpathogenen Bakterien abzuleiten und mögliche Virulenzfaktoren zu identifizieren. Die Datenanalyse wird durch die Anwendung von Computerprogrammen des CeBiTec maßgeblich unterstützt. Für die Zulassung zum Projektmodul gelten besondere Sicherheitsbestimmungen.
