Das Seminar soll eine vertiefte Auseinandersetzung mit den Chancen und Möglichkeiten des Konzepts neuer Ganztagsschulen im Primar- und Sekundarbereich (insbesondere Grundschulen und Hauptschulen) vorgenommen werden. Dabei geht es insbesondere um die Verbindung von unterrichtsbezogenen und ausserunterrichtlichen (ausserschulischen) pädagogischen Bildungsprozesses und Lernansätzen, um neue Kooperationsmodelle und gemeinsame Verantwortungsstrukturen sowie um die rechtlichen Grundbedingungen. Berücksichtigt werden dabei neuere Untersuchungen über die praktische Umsetzung und Weiterentwicklung von Ganztagsschulen. Überlegungen zum Stellenwert von "Ganztagsbildung" und zur Entwicklung "Kommunaler Bildungslandschaften" werden einbezogen. Zudem wird eine Übersicht über die Umsetzung in der Praxis und den gesellschaftlichen und politischen Absichten dargestellt.
