The main target of this seminar is getting an overview on sequencing technologies in the past and present, become familar with English science literature and to improve the analysis and paper presentation in English.
The seminar will have two parts: In the first part sequencing techniques will be presented beginning from 'old style' single scale Sanger sequencing ending up in the modern high throughput next generation sequencing capabilities and template useage. In the second part actual DNA sequencing papers will be presented.
The contents will give an insight into the actual acquisation of huge DNA sequencing data and resulting problems.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
