230424 Professional presentations in English (S) (SoSe 2015)

Contents, comment

In this seminar students will be helped and guided in the planning and performing of a presentation in English on a topic from their own subject area. In the first sessions students will consult with the seminar leader and decide on a topic within their own subject area on which they will prepare a presentation in English intended for a non-specialist public. The semester will be devoted to the planning, drafting and rehearsing of this presentation under the guidance and advice of the seminar leader.

Some sessions will be devoted to work in progress reports and exchange of ideas among the members of the seminar group. Some sessions may be organised as / replaced by individual consultations on a one to one basis at times to be arranged to the mutual convenienience of student and teacher. A native speaker graduate assistant may also be available to offer additional consultation. Towards the end of the semester each student will present the finished product to the seminar group (length 30 minutes).

Students will be expected to apply what they have learned in the first two seminars of the module about language pedagogy and CLIL, respectively. The oral presentation together with a written commentary / reflection (maximum 5 pages) will constitute the Modulprüfung.
