Second Life ist eine Internet-Infrastruktur für von Benutzern gestaltete virtuelle 3D-Welten, in der Menschen mit Hilfe von Avataren interagieren, spielen, Handel betreiben und anderweitig kommunizieren können. Für diese verteilte Online-Plattform sollen in diesem Projekt neuartige Interaktions- und Visualisierungstechniken erprobt werden. Das Ziel der Projektes ist es, mit Hilfe einer Virtual Reality-Installation selber - immersiv - in die virtuelle Welt einzutauchen und dort mit anderen Avataren zu kommunizieren, anstatt seinen Avatar über Keyboard- und Mausbedienung zu steuern. Neben der Sprache sollen dabei auch die Gesten und Körperbewegungen des menschlichen Nutzers erfasst, repräsentiert und durch den für andere sichtbaren Avatar wiedergegeben werden. Für diese Verarbeitung multimodaler Ein- und Ausgaben existieren bereits umfangreiche Softwarepakete, welche im Rahmen des Projekts in einen Second Life-Viewer eingebettet werden.
Teilnehmerzahl:
Es handelt sich um ein thematische Erweiterung des
bereits laufenden Projekts "Max goes Second Life". Es können noch
bis zu 10 weitere StudentInnen aufgenommen werden.

animation und C++ bzw. Bereitschaft sich einzuarbeiten.
