Die Lehrveranstaltung zielt darauf ab, den Teilnehmenden einen umfassenden Überblick über aktuelle Basistheorien, empirische Befunde und zentrale Diskussionslinien in der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Jugendforschung zu verschaffen. Der Kurs verfolgt einen textbasierten Ansatz und stützt sich auf eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit einschlägiger Fachliteratur, weshalb von den Teilnehmenden ein hohes Maß an Lesebereitschaft erwartet wird. Ein Referenzpunkt für die Erschließung von thematischen Schwerpunkten wird der Sammelband von Puchert und Schwertfeger (Hrsg.), „Jugend im Blick der erziehungswissenschaftlichen Forschung – Perspektiven, Lebenswelten und soziale Probleme“ (2020, Budrich Verlag), darstellen.
