Bestimmen, Datieren und Einordnen gehören zu den Tätigkeiten von Kunsthistoriker*innen. Im Seminar werden diese Fähigkeiten eingeübt und auf ihre (un)bewusst eingeschriebenen Kriterien hin befragt. Die mit den Tätigkeiten des Bestimmens, Datierens und Ordnens verbundenen Konstruktionen von u.a. Epochen, Kanon, Stil, Geschlecht und Geschmack werden im Seminar benannt, hinterfragt und diskutiert.
Der Besuch des Tutoriums zur „Kunstgeschichte der Region“ ist obligatorisch.
