Journalistische Kompetenzen sind für Biologen und Umweltwissenschaftler bei vielen Kommunikationsaufgaben nützlich. Journalismus und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit sind zudem mögliche Berufsfelder für Absolventen. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung werden Berufsperspektiven und -wege in den (Umwelt-)Journalismus vorgestellt. In einem Praxisprojekt können erste journalistische Erfahrungen gesammelt werden. Anhand vieler praktischer Übungen wird gezeigt, wie Themen journalistisch recherchiert, aufbereitet und medienspezifisch dargestellt werden. Ziel ist es, einen Beitrag zu schreiben und zu produzieren, der in regionalen Medien veröffentlicht werden kann. Es wird auch thematisiert, wie sich journalistisches Know How in der Pressearbeit einsetzen lässt. Eine Führung sowie praktische Arbeiten im Studio des WDR Bielefeld sind vorgesehen. Die Zeiten des Termins am 18.12. können in der Vorbesprechung noch je nach Interesse und Studio-Verfügbarkeit angepasst werden.

Das Praxisprojekt wird von der Journalistin Silke Tornede geleitet. Sie ist derzeit Freie Mitarbeiterin für den WDR und aktiv in der Pressearbeit für Organisationen. Zuvor war sie lange u.a. für die Neue Westfälische und die Süddeutsche Zeitung tätig.
