202411 Spezialmodul "Theoretische Grundlagen der Evolutionären Ökologie: Key Concepts in Evolutionary Ecology" (Ü+Pr) (SoSe 2025)

Contents, comment

After two years of delivering this course entirely online, this year we are back to delivering the course mostly in person. The module will involve a combination of reading and individual exercises alongside group activities, lectures and discussions. Any online session will take place via Zoom, with access links posted in the Lernraum for the course (under ‘Meetings’)

Through this module, students will develop an in-depth understanding of several key concepts in evolutionary ecology (e.g., natural selection, behavioural ecology, life-history evolution, evolutionary conflicts, and more) as well as state-of-the-art research methodologies used in the field and with an open science focus. Participants will receive introductory lectures on the selected topics, but the major focus will be on working in small groups to develop a deeper understanding of each topic. This small-group work will be delivered through a combination of problem-based exercises and learning to read and critically evaluate the primary scientific literature, culminating in a group discussion of the important concepts and ideas. The module will be delivered mostly in English.
