This course is about Signal Detection Theory (Green & Swets, 1966), a theory providing measurement models and analysis tools for psychophysics, cognitive experiments, and clinical diagnostics. These tools enable us to distinguish the sensitivity of perception or the accuracy of decisions from internal biases of an individual. As such, the discussed methods can be applied widely, across all domains of psychology.
