Development studies are at the crossroads and in an intense period of self-reflection. This colloquium continues the series of appraising the contributions made in the interdisciplinary field of development studies over the past forty years. Towards that end scholars from the fields of sociology, history, economics, anthropology and political science will take a look back into the history of development research and give their critical evaluation from where we come and where we might go. In addition to external speakers who elaborate issues of development studies more generally, ongoing research projects within the research unit ¿Transnationalization and Development¿ are presented.
This research seminar aims at advanced students in the social sciences, who have some prior experience in the sociology, politics and anthropology of development, doctoral students at the International Graduate School in Sociology (IGSS) and the members of the Research Centre on Transnationalization and Development.
