220067 Umweltgeschichte und Naturerbe in den Amerikas / Environmental History and Natural Heritage in the Americas (V+K) (WiSe 2014/2015)

Mit der globalen Erderwärmung, der Abholzung von Wäldern und der Suche nach nachhaltigen Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftsmodellen stellt die ökologische Frage gegenwärtig eines der drängesten Probleme dar. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird in diesem Seminar die gesellschaftliche Produktion und Aneigenung von Umwelt in den Amerikas seit der Conquista an ausgewählten Beispielen diskutiert. Behandelt werden u.a. Fragen des "ökologischen Imperialismus", der gesellschaftlichen Imagination von Natur und deren Inanspruchnahme für die Konstruktion politischer Kollektive sowie Regulierung von Umwelt (von der Plantagenwirtschaft bis hin zur Ausweisung von Nationalparks).

Die Veranstaltung wird auf Deutsch und Englisch abgehalten.
