751019 Englische Romantik: Leidenschaft, Natur und Individualität (S) (WiSe 2024/2025)

Contents, comment

Wir tauchen ein in eine der einflussreichsten literarischen Bewegungen des späten 18. und frühen 19. Jahrhunderts und zeichnen nach, wie die Romantiker die Welt neu interpretierten und damit den Grundstein für moderne Konzepte von Individualität und künstlerischem Ausdruck legen. Es geht um Naturverehrung, Individualismus, emotionale Intensität und die Flucht in die Fantasie als zentrale Themen und Motive der Romantik.
Neben der Lyrik der großen Dichter Wordsworth, Blake, Coleridge, Keats, Byron, Shelley setzen wir uns mit den literarischen Werken von Jane Austen und Mary Shelley auseinander. Betrachtet wird hier besonders die Repräsentation in Film (Stolz und Vorurteil), Theater (Frankenstein) und in der zeitgenössischen Kunst (William Turner).

Bei Interesse kann eine Exkursion nach London angeboten werden.
