Die Veranstaltung beschäftigt sich neben der geschichtlichen Entwicklung der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur mit der Analyse und Rezension ausgewählter Formen (z. B. Bilderbuch, Märchen, Kinder- und Jugendbuch). Thematisiert werden insbesondere handlungs- und produktionsorientierte Verfahren; darüber hinaus werden Klassiker wie auch Erscheinungen der Moderne im Rahmen von Kinder- und Jugendliteratur aufgegriffen.
Ausgehend davon liegt der Schwerpunkt auf der didaktisch-methodischen Umsetzung, insbesondere in der Primarstufe und der Sekundarstufe I.Für den Nachweis der aktiven Teilnahme sind regelmäßiges Erscheinen, aktive Mitarbeit und das Verfassen zweier Ergebnisprotokolle erforderlich. Die Anforderungen zum Erwerb (un-)benoteter Leistungsnachweise werden in der ersten Seminarsitzung bekanntgegeben.
