230580 Multi-Ethnic Literatures in the U.S. (S) (WiSe 2007/2008)

Contents, comment

Drawing upon concepts of ethnicity, difference and identities in-between cultures, we will discuss alternative models to the melting pot in selected texts by African American, Native American, Asian American and Hispanic writers. We will focus on writers such as Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Bharati Mukherjee, Maxine H. Kingston, Leslie M. Silko and Sandra Cisneros.
