Bei Ironie, Methapher und Witz handelt es sich um Erscheinungsformen 'uneigentlicher' Äußerungen - um Sprachausdrücke, die anders als wörtlich zu verstehen sind. Die mit dem Verstehen solcher Äußerungen einhergehenden Verarbeitungsprozesse sind in der kognitiven Linguistik vielfach thematisiert und untersucht worden.
Das Seminar wird einen Überblick über die wichtigsten Überlegungen und Erkenntnisse zum Verstehen solcher 'uneigentlicher' Äußerungen geben:- Ironie: Linguistisch-pragmatische Hintergründe nicht-wörtlich zu interpretierender Ausdrücke; diverse Erklärungsansätze (z.B. pretense, echoic mention u.a.); einschlägige Studien.
- Metapher: Konzeptuell-repräsentationale Aspekte von figurativer Sprache; Verarbeitungsprinzipien und -prozesse (z.B. category assignment, structural mapping u.a.); einschlägige Studien.
- Witz: Literarisch-ästhetischeGrundlagen; kognitiv und kulturwissenschaftlich basierte Systematisierungsansätze (z.B. gestaltism, general theory of verbal humor); einschlägige Studien.
