Der Begriff "präattentiv" hat sich, seit er von Neisser (1967) populär gemacht wurde, in der Wahrnehmungsforschung eingebürgert, obwohl eine strikte Trennung zwischen einerseits präattentiver und andererseits attentiver Verarbeitung immer wieder kritisiert worden ist. Ziel der Veranstaltung ist die Beschäftigung mit den als präattentiv bezeichneten Prozessen, die am Anfang des Wahrnehmungsprozesses stehen und die in der Lage sind, bestimmte Einzelreize ("primitives") schnell und oft unbeeinflusst von deren Anzahl, zu verarbeiten. Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung soll die Möglichkeit geboten werden, Einblick in aktuell laufenden Forschungsarbeiten zu nehmen, um z.B. Diplomarbeiten vorzubereiten.
