Die Lehrveranstaltung greift eine doppelte Fragestellung Georg Simmels auf: Wie lassen sich unterschiedliche Sozialmodelle wie Kooperation oder Tausch, Konkurrenz oder Konflikt voneinander unterscheiden? Und: Wie steht es um die Differenzierung dieser Modelle in der gesellschaftlichen Realität. Die kritische Absicht dabei ist es, Theorien, die überhaupt nur eines dieser Modelle kennen (also etwa: nur Konflikte, nur Verträge, nur Austauschbeziehungen) in den Grenzen ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit darzustellen und eine komplexere Behandlung der Thematik vorzubereiten.
