Ein wesentlicher Aspekt der modernen Naturwissenschaft ist die Kooperation mit externen Arbeitsgruppen. Durch das „Forschungsmodul (extern)“ sollen Studierende einen Einblick in diesen Aspekt der Forschung und in mögliche spätere Berufsmöglichkeiten bekommen. Studierende können im Rahmen dieses Moduls an eine andere Universität oder ein Institut gehen und dort eine wissenschaftliche Fragestellung bearbeiten. Neben der/m externen Betreuer(in) der Arbeit steht jeder/m Studierenden ein(e) interne(r) Betreuer(in) zur Seite.
