Sprachkontakt ist immer dann zu beobachten, wenn von einem Individuum oder in einer Gruppe mehr als eine Sprache verwendet wird. Aus einer globalen Perspektive stellt dies den Regelfall dar, wobei sich Ausmaß und Art des Sprachkontakts deutlich unterscheiden. In diesem Seminar widmen wir uns der Frage, inwiefern deutsche Varietäten durch Sprachkontakt geprägt sind. Dabei kommen lexikalische Aspekte zur Sprache, die zu den offenkundigsten Resultaten von Sprachkontakt zählen (z.B. Anglizismen im Standarddeutschen), aber auch sprachstrukturelle Aspekte sowie die Interaktion dieser beiden Bereiche. Darüber hinaus werden wir in den Blick nehmen, wie kontakt-induzierte Merkmale bewertet werden und welche Einstellungen dies offenbart. Thematisiert werden dazu verschiedene Sprachkontakt-Settings, einschließlich informellem und multilingual geprägtem Sprachgebrauch in urbanen Zentren (Kiezdeutsch) und deutschsprachigen Minderheiten in verschiedenen Teilen der Welt (z.B. in Namibia).
