Das Grundseminar II führt anhand von älteren und neueren Texten der Kunstgeschichte und Bildwissenschaft in zentrale Theorien, Ansätze und Denkmodelle ein. Es handelt sich um Schlüsseltexte des Fachs, anhand derer die Beschreibung, Analyse und Interpretation von Bildern, Artefakten, analogen und digitalen Medien erlernt und erprobt werden soll. Vermittelt werden soll damit zugleich ein Einblick in die Epochen, Gattungen, Techniken, Theorien und Grundbegriffe einer kultur- und medienwissenschaftlich informierten Bild- und Kunstgeschichte.
Das begleitende Tutorium ist verpflichtender Bestandteil des Seminars. Beide Veranstaltungen sind eng aufeinander abgestimmt, so dass unbedingt davon abgeraten wird, das Seminar ohne Teilnahme am Tutorium zu besuchen. Eine Verbuchung der abschließenden Prüfungsleistung setzt die aktive Mitarbeit im Seminar/Tutorium voraus
