Was ist die Liebe? Ein starkes Gefühl, eine intersubjektive Relation, eine christliche Tugend, eine göttliche Eigenschaft. Im Mittelalter ist es vor allem eine Kunst – etwas, das man regelgeleitet auszuführen hat.
Im Anschluss an Roland Barthes werden in der Vorlesung pro Sitzung zwei alphabetisch angeordnete Fragmente vorgestellt – von «Abhängigkeit» bis «Zugrundegehen». Die Vorlesung führt dabei in wichtige Texte der mittelhochdeutschen Literatur ein.
Von Fragment zu Fragment gilt es, eine Sprache der Sinnlichkeit zu entdecken, die in diskursive Traditionen eingebunden ist und ihr Sinnversprechen wie Verheissungspotential aus dieser Einbindung bezieht; eine Sprache der suggerierten Unmittelbarkeit, die gekonnt mit Vermittlungsformen umgeht; eine Sprache der Liebe zwischen zweien, die auf Formen von Gemeinschaft und Sozialität angewiesen bleibt.
