In dieser Veranstaltung beschäftigen wir uns mit den Grundlagen der Sozial- und Kulturanthropologie. Das Ziel des Kurses ist es, Studierende mit Schlüsseldebatten und Perspektiven innerhalb der Disziplin vertraut zu machen. Der Kurs gibt zunächst einen historischen Abriss, um hervorzuheben unter welchen geopolitischen und historischen Bedingungen die Anthropologie als Disziplin entstand. Im Anschluss werden zentrale Konzepte, Themen und Ideen der gegenwärtigen anthropologischen Forschung vorgestellt. Im Kurs werden wir uns mit klassischen anthropologischen Texten sowie mit postkolonialen und dekolonialen Perspektiven beschäftigen.
Vorausgesetzt wird die Bereitschaft, sich mit Texten in englischer Sprache auseinanderzusetzen.
