230063 British History (S) (WiSe 2024/2025)

Contents, comment

This lecture-type course will give you an overview of British history from Stonehenge up to the end of the Napoleonic Wars.

This module is completed by taking part in an oral examination for PM 4 Histories, in which you will be examined on History of the English Language plus two more lectures of your choice.
The Studienleistung in this course, British History, is a worksheet at the end of the semester, which will serve as an opportunity for you to test whether you are ready for the oral exam. - You can do this worksheet EACH semester a few days before the PM 4 oral exams.

Bibliography

am not following this textbook in any specific way, and I will not ask questions about its content, unless it came up in class. But if you want a solid, colourful one-volume history of Britain, I recommend this one:
The Penguin Illustrated History of Britain and Ireland from Earliest Times to the Present Day, edited by Barry Cunliffe et al, 2004
