Spracherkennungs- und syntheseanwendungen kommen heutzutage vielerorts zum Einsatz, z.B. in Auskunftsystemen, Vorlesegeräten für Blinde, Navigationssystemen etc. Im Kurs werden grundlegende Architekturen und Algorithmen der Spracherkennung (HMMs; Viterbi etc.) sowie der Sprachsynthese (konkatenativ vs. parametrisch; Diphonsynthese; Einheitenselektion; HTS; Artikulatorische Synthese etc.) eingeführt, an Beispielanwendungen verdeutlicht und in exemplarischen Übungen vertieft. Im Verlauf des Kurses sollten die Teilnehmer einen Überblick und sinnvolle Anwendungsgebiete sowie erste praktische Erfahrungen in verschiedenen Synthese- und Erkennungsarchitekturen erworben haben. Ein eigenes Gruppenprojekt schließt den Kurs ab. In diesem Projekt soll ein exemplarisches Problem eigenständig bearbeitet und den anderen Teilnehmern im Rahmen einer Blockveranstaltung dargestellt werden.
