Das Seminar stellt die Frage nach dem - in der Tat fragwürdigen - Umbruch um 2000 aus der besonderen Perspektive der sog. 'Migrationsliteratur'. Diesen Begriff werden wir systematisch diskutieren: Was kann damit alles gemeint sein? Wie kommen darin Literatur und Migration jeweils zusammen? Gleichzeitig werden wir uns mit der Geschichte der 'Migrationsliteratur' in Deutschland beschäftigen, von ihren Anfängen in den 1960er und 70er Jahren bis heute - schwerpunktmäßig jedoch ab ca. 1995, um uns so mit der Umbruch-Frage näher auseinander zu setzen. Wir werden ansatzweise rekonstruieren, mit welchen kulturtheoretischen und kulturwissenschaftlichen Diskursen diese Literatur in einen Zusammenhang gebracht werden kann, und zwar anhand der drei Stichworte 'Öffentlichkeit', 'Autorschaft' und 'Historisierung'. Außerdem werden wir selbstverständlich ausgewählte Primärtexte - Erzählliteratur - lesen und gemeinsam besprechen.
