At the end of the seminar, students will be able to analyse individual problem areas of health policy and health system research based on selected theories from the social sciences.

This seminar focuses on work environments in health care. The seminar will provide knowledge about relevant theories from the field of health systems research and will give students the chance to apply those theories while analysing systemic differences and policies in the field of working environment in the health care sector.
Participants will learn how to find, analyse, and evaluate studies investigating current health-related challenges to work environments in the health care sector in different countries as well as political approaches and interventions to meet these challenges. They will practice presenting the state of research and deduce research gaps.

To gain the intended knowledge and skills, constant and active participation is required.
Study requirements (Studienleistung) are two short presentations and active engagement in the seminar sessions, including reading publications as well as preparing for and taking part in discussions. The seminar paper (Prüfungsleistung) is a project with elaboration of 8–10 pages.

Study requirements (Studenleistung) are two short presentations and active engagement in the seminar sessions, including reading publications, preparing for discussions, and presenting interim results. The seminar paper (Prüfungsleistung) is a project with ellaboration of 8–10 pages.
The seminar paper can be submitted in the form of individual or group work (8-10 pages per person). The registration for the seminar paper needs to be sent via email to Marcus Heumann (mheumann@uni-bielefeld.de) including a suggestion for a topic, no later than January 9, 2024. All students who have registered for the seminar paper will receive a topic on January 16, 2024. The project report needs to be submitted no later than March 12, 2024.
