Die Frage "Wen hast du gesehen?" wird in verschiedenen Sprachen unterschiedlich ausgedrückt:
(1)
a. Who did you see? (Englisch)
b. Qui as-tu vu? (Französisch)
c. ¿A quién has visto? (Spanisch)
d. nǐ kàn jiàn le shéi? (Mandarin)
e. Kit láttál? (Ungarisch)

Andererseits können in einer Sprache auch mehrere Fragestrategien nebeneinander existieren:

(2) Französisch
a. Qui as-tu vu?
b. Tu as vu qui?
c. Qui tu as vu?
d. Qui est-ce que tu as vu?

In diesem Seminar werden die verschiedenen Fragestrategien zur Bildung von Entscheidungsfragen (ja/nein-Fragen) und Konstituentenfragen (wh-Fragen) in verschiedenen Sprachen vorglichen und analysiert. Ein besonderer Fokus wird dabei auf den syntaktischen Repräsentation und den Schnittstellen zu anderen linguististischen Gebieten (Semantik/Pragmatik, Phonologie,...) liegen.
