The skill to interact successfully in intercultural contexts is one of the major curricular goals in secondary schools. How is this skill developed on a practical level – in foreign language classes, in bilingual classes (CLIL) and beyond the classroom? We will be examining this skill as the focal point of all other competence fields in foreign language classes and as a component of bilingual (CLIL) non-language classes. We will also be looking at measures fostering excellence in this field and their concrete results. In addition to the seminar we will be spending two days in school examining and reflecting practical work in this context.
The seminar takes place on the following days:
· 02.11.2023, 16 – 18 Uhr
· 09.11.2023, 16 – 18 Uhr
· 16.11.2023, 16 – 18 Uhr
· 23.11.2023, 16 – 18 Uhr
· 11.1.2024, 16 – 18 Uhr
· 18.01.2024 16 – 18 Uhr
· 01.02.2024, 16 – 18 Uhr
Please note: There are two practical blocks at school (most likely two days from 7.30 to 14.30) in December / January. The specific dates are tba very soon!

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
To pass this class (Studienleistung) you will hand in an analysis / reflection of a lesson or material. If you want to obtain exam credits (Prüfungsleistung) you have to write a paper of 3.000 words on a choice of issues regarding intercultural competence.
