In addition to economic and cultural capital, social capital is linked in many ways to the emergence and transmission of social inequalities. The causal relationship between social capital and social inequality is complex and can be described on various levels. The seminar will take a closer look at these relationships using various examples, highlighting the special role of the family and wider social networks. In combination with network approaches, possibilities for describing and measuring social capital are theorized. The seminar also provides a brief introduction to the basics of network analysis.
