230083 Phantastische Literatur im 19. Jahrhundert (S) (SoSe 2013)

Etwa zeitgleich mit der französischen Romantik entsteht eine wahrhafte vogue fantastique. Erzählungen über Dämonen und Elementargeister, mysteriöse Erscheinungen, zwielichtige Wissenschaftler und zweifelhafte Traumerfahrungen faszinieren und empören die Leserschaft. Bis heute wird die Phantastik als subversives Genre betrachtet. In diesem Seminar diskutieren wir verschiedene Betrachtungen der Phantastik. Die Semantik und Rhetorik der Erzählungen werden analysiert, und die Frage nach dem, was sich ‚in der phantastischen Welt‘ verbirgt, steht zur Diskussion. Die Etymologie von Phantastik zurückverfolgend, vom griechischen phantázesthai, <dt.> erscheinen, werden wir uns die Frage stellen, was genau in der Phantastik sichtbar wird.
