Das Seminar dient der Einführung in das heterogene Forschungsfeld der Mediensoziologie. Hierzu werden zentrale mediensoziologische Perspektiven (Kritische Theorie, Cultural Studies, handlungs- und praxistheoretische Ansätze sowie Systemtheorie) vorgestellt und diskutiert. Anhand einschlägiger Texte sollen deren spezifische Charakteristika und Problembezüge herausgearbeitet und verglichen werden. Ziel der Einführungsveranstaltung ist es, die Grundannahmen und Problembezüge der behandelten Theorien verstehen und vergleichen zu können, um darauf aufbauend in der Lage zu sein, eigenständige und theoretisch begründete mediensoziologische Fragestellungen zu entwickeln und zu bearbeiten.
