Ist für das 20. Jhdt eine Unterscheidung von Wissenschaft und Technik möglich? Viele Wissenschaftsforscher lehnen eine solche Trennung ab. Vieldiskutierte soziologische Ansätze postulieren sogar die Entdifferenzierung des Wissenschaftssystems (mode-2, triple helix). Lassen sich solche Thesen halten, wenn man die historischen Fälle betrachtet? Unter anderem am Beispiel von Quantenphysik, Molekularbiologie, Polymerchemie, Computerwissenschaft und Energie¬technik werden wir dies überprüfen. Im Zentrum stehen dabei die USA und Deutschland.
