231103 Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice (Text, Context, Film) (S) (WiSe 2013/2014)

Contents, comment

This course will start with an in-depth analysis and interpretation of the text of Shakespeare´s The Merchant of Venice and then proceed to analyse major theatrical and filmic representations as examples of differently adapted and contextualized versions of the play.

Participants will be requested to either contribute to a presentation in class or alternatively
write a film review of one of the films.
