This course will introduce major poets of the Victorian age (Tennyson, Browning, Arnold, Rossetti,
Swinburne, Hopkins et al.) and analyse representative examples of their poetic production.
A special focus will be on their aesthetic and cultural postition between late Romanticism and
early Modernism.
A reader with the course texts will be available at the beginning of the term.
CPs will be awarded for regular attendance (1), becoming an expert for the analysis of one of
the poems (2) and a written essay on that poem (3).
